The Provincial Society was formed at the inaugural
Annual General Meeting on 1st March 2003 and was registered as a charity on 9
July 2004. It brings together people interested in all aspects of the operation
and vehicles of the former Provincial Tramways Company, the Gosport and Fareham
Omnibus Company and the Provincial Bus Company, together with all successor and
associated companies from 1878 to the present day.
Upon joining, new members receive a membership card, members' handbook including
a copy of the constitution and an enamel Society badge. There is a quarterly
magazine 'Provincial Press' as well as regular updates in newsletters entitled
: 'Provincial Press Extra'.

In this issue, as well as the usual reports of recent and anticipated changes to current vehicles in ‘On the Move’, the following topics will be covered:

Issued free to members of the society.

Membership of the Society runs from 1 April each year @ £12 for one year, plus a
one-off joining fee of £5. Cheques should be
made payable to 'The Provincial Society'.
Family Membership defined as two people living at the same address is also available at £18 for one year.
